It's that time of year again! Everyone's doing it, but I have to say it, I hate the word resolve, as in resolution, as in New Year's resolution. It is like you have to fix something in the New Year. Like something is wrong with you and you have to make a point to share it with the world. I stopped doing the resolution thing few years ago and started setting intentions instead. Sounds hokey, but it makes me feel better about these particular goals.
I am a goal driven person in general, but these are always something specific I intend to achieve during the year. Most of the time I keep them fun and upbeat. Like last year, I had 2 big items on my list, which I am proud to say I achieved. I passed all my tests and became an LCSW! My second one was to run and finish the New York City Marathon, which I am happy to say I did.
So my intentions for 2015? I've been putting a few of these off for a little while, so I hope by writing them down and being mindful about them will push me more into achieving these items. Here's to my intentions.
1. Be ready. Let's get a dang passport. I can't believe I don't have one! Well, I do, technically, but it is in my maiden name. So I need to update every thing. With this, I have the intention of traveling abroad!
2. Be prepared. I gotta get an Emergency Kit together. I experienced my first big earthquake in 2014 and realize we would be screwed if something really, really big happened.
3. Be smart. I intend to cross train. This is within the traditional realm of exercise stuff for the new year, but I just need to modify my stuff. I do a lot of training already, but it is all high impact, which is causing some aggravations. I intend to cross train with more low impact stuff this year so I don't injury myself as much. More yoga, maybe dust off my bike, and swimming...maybe this will lead me into trying a triathlon again in 2015? Now how I am going to fit all these things into the 6 days I already work out, I don't know yet, but I'll be working on it.
4. Be bold. I am going to try and rock some red lips this year. T-Swift is inspiring me! But I really don't think I can pull it off. But I intend to try.
There you have it. Simple and fun. Out there for the world. Now to take action...
What's on your 2015 list? Let's do this thing.
Happy New Year and Cheers!
